2017 District Chess Championship
2017 District Chess Championship. Chess players make their move. Chess coaches were available to answer questions. Players kept clocks running counting the time between moves. Chess coaches assist competitors. This player waited for her opponent to make a move. Expressions of competitors as they seriously consider their next move. District Chess Coordinator Dennis Minnis reviewed the moves of a competitor. Chess judges could be summoned if players had any questions. Players appear to be agonizing over a move and some of them probably are. Player stances changed from sitting to standing to kneeling, whatever was most comfortable at the moment. Each player carefully considered their move whole pondering how their opponent would counter the strategy. Elementary school chess players concentrated hard during their matches. Before competition, chess players worked on strategy in the Crossroads gymnasium Students and chess coaches at the 2017 District Chess Championship Jan. 14 at Crossroads Elementary School.
