Cedar Grove Elementary School’s new principal is Bryan Flachbart.
“I am extremely excited to be joining the incredible families, faculty, and staff of the Cedar Grove Elementary community,” he said.
This is Flachbart’s first time leading a school after serving as assistant principal of Lancaster Elementary School in Garrard County.
He has also been Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Frankfort Independent Schools and taught both regular education and special education at the elementary and middle school levels in the central Kentucky area for the past 10 years.
“My experience in leading classrooms and schools has contributed to preparing me to be the instructional leader at Cedar Grove,” Flachbart said. “My experiences of building both a culture for high expectations and a climate for positive relationships will aid Cedar Grove in becoming a five-star elementary school.”
His goal is, first and foremost, to create greatness in every Cedar Grove student.
“That’s our vision. We will do this by creating learning opportunities and experiences for each and every student. As we journey to excellence – we will build relationships with each other and our families to create an environment conducive to the positive growth and development of our students and staff,” he said.
The best and most exciting thing about being in the field of education is, “Believing in someone so much that they begin to see it themselves! Everyone needs a champion and when we champion for kids – the sky is the limit!”
Flachbart earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Kent State University in 2006 followed by a Master of Arts in Gifted Education from Eastern Kentucky University 2010, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University 2013.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.
Flachbart is on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association and serves on the Safety Council with the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.
He and his wife, Mary, have opened their home as foster-parents. The couple enjoys travelling and are avid campers.
