Four high school musicians auditioned and qualified for the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) All-State Band and Orchestra Concert in February.
Bullitt Central High School Euphonium player Seth Mitchell will join Bullitt East High School students Michael Coleman (French Horn), Marlene Michel (Bass Clarinet) and Kelsey Richardson (Tenor Saxophone) during the Feb. 10 concert at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
The youth were selected from over 1,000 Kentucky high school band students who auditioned in December at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown
Bullitt East Director of Bands Trevor Ervin saluted the students.
“This accomplishment is no small feat and is among the highest honors to achieve as a student musician in the state of Kentucky.” he said.
The Bullitt East High School Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the KMEA conference Feb. 8 at 10:45 a.m. at the Palace Theatre in Louisville.
Ervin said this performance is the highest honor a band can receive from the state of Kentucky.
“Programs can only be selected for this every four years and only four programs are selected each year,” he said.
