This is a reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15, is our first round of ELS Benchmark Testing for Reading for all freshmen and sophomores.

Benchmark testing helps us understand how our students are performing academically and provides valuable information that helps guide instruction and identify areas where we can continue to grow as a school.

Please help us by:
Prioritizing your student's attendance tomorrow.
Encouraging your student to take their time and give their best effort.
Reminding students to come to school with a fully charged Chromebook.
Encouraging students to take the assessment seriously and remain focused throughout testing.

We will have our first round of ELS Benchmark Testing on Tuesday, September 15, and Thursday, September 17 for all freshmen and sophomores. Benchmark testing helps us understand how students are performing, allows teachers to target individual learning needs, and provides valuable data to help us grow as a school.

Please prioritize your child’s attendance during these testing sessions and encourage them to give their best effort. Students who demonstrate a good faith effort during testing will earn ice cream at lunch!

Attention Senior Parents and Guardians,

We previously sent an email explaining how to access your student's senior tux and drape portraits. However, we were unaware that Lifetouch had recently changed their access process for senior portraits. In the coming weeks, as soon as they arrive from Lifetouch, we will be sending physical photo proofs home with students. Each proof will contain a unique Portrait ID and Access Code, which will allow you to view and order your student's portraits online.

Once you receive your student's physical proof, please follow these instructions from Lifetouch to access the images:

Log onto mylifetouch.com and select the A Code From Lifetouch tab.

Enter the Portrait ID from the proof (an 8-character combination of numbers and letters).

Enter the Access Code from the proof (a 4-character combination of letters and numbers).

Enter the student's last name.

Enter your relationship to the student.

If your student missed picture day and has not yet taken their senior tux and drape portrait, a makeup day is scheduled for Thursday, November 5.

🎗️💛 BCPS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS WEEK 💛🎗️ 
 Get ready to show your support and help us SPREAD AWARENESS during Childhood Cancer Awareness Week! 🌟 
 📅 August 31–September 4 🌟 Monday, 8/31: Favorite Team Attire 💛 Tuesday, 9/1: Neon Day 🎩 Wednesday, 9/2: Hat Day 👢 Thursday, 9/3: Boot Day 🖤 Friday, 9/4: Black or School Spirit Shirt 
 But our week is about more than just showing our spirit—it’s about making a difference for children and families facing childhood cancer. 💛 
 🥨 SNACK DRIVE 🥨 Along with our fun Spirit Week, we will be collecting individually wrapped snack items to donate to hospital family snack pantries. These donations help provide a little comfort and convenience to families spending long days at the hospital with their children.

We are excited about the great start our students have made to the 2026–2027 school year! Please continue talking with your child about our school-wide expectations, as well as our telecommunications device and dress code policies. Your partnership helps us create a positive and successful learning environment for all students.

Each quarter, we will host a ROAR Rally to recognize and reward students who meet our school-wide expectations through academic success, positive behavior, and strong attendance.

Our first ROAR Rally is Friday, October 30! To participate, students must have:

🐾 No D’s or F’s
🐾 No behavior referrals
🐾 No more than 3 unexcused absences

BCHS Families, We are excited to let you know that Senior Tux & Drape Picture Day will be tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25, in the Small Gym! In addition to ensuring your student is in attendance, please stress to them the importance of taking their picture. These pictures will be included in the 2027 yearbook and will also provide an updated picture for Infinite Campus. We will begin calling seniors first thing in the morning, as soon as the photographers are set up, and will continue throughout the day until all seniors have had their pictures taken. We will begin with students who leave the building during the school day or are not here for the entire day, including students attending ATC, co-op, off-site dual credit, etc. After those students have been photographed, we will continue calling seniors alphabetically by last name. If you would like to order your student’s pictures, you may do so online through Prestige Photography by Lifetouch. Students will receive a form when they take their pictures that includes the session ID and access code needed to view and order their images. All orders will be placed online. BCHS Yearbook Staff
