🌾🐄 Hay Day Spotlight! 🐄🌾 A big thank you to Barry Christmas, our Kentucky Farm Bureau agent, who spent time with our 3rd graders today teaching them all about cows and the importance of taking care of farms and farmers. 🌱 Farmers don’t just work the land—they feed our communities and our world! Kentucky agriculture plays a huge role in keeping families healthy, strong, and connected. 💪🌎 Our students learned so many fun facts: ✨ The scientific term for cows is “bovine.” ✨ Dairy cows are typically thinner with visible hips and produce milk 🥛, while beef cows are stockier and bred for meat 🍔. ✨ Female bovines are called cows or heifers (before having a calf), while males are called bulls or steers. We are so grateful for this hands-on learning that connects classroom lessons to real life. 🚜 Thank you, Barry Christmas and Kentucky Farm Bureau, for reminding us why caring for Kentucky farms and farmers is essential for us all. ❤️ #theBESt #HayDay #KentuckyProud #Broncos

Dear Brooks Families,
Today, our students and staff participated in our state-required safety drills for fire, severe weather, bomb threat, and hard lockdown. These drills help us practice what to do in different emergency situations so that everyone knows how to respond calmly and safely if we were ever to need them.
We understand that these drills can sometimes feel a little unsettling for our young learners. Your child may mention them at home or have questions. While we always reassure students that these drills are just practice, it’s normal for them to feel curious, or even a bit nervous, afterward.
How you can help at home:
Ask open-ended questions: Instead of “Were you scared?” try,
“What did your teacher do during the drill?”
“What did you do to help keep yourself safe?”
“What was the easiest part of the drill for you?”
Reassure them: Let them know drills are like seatbelts — we practice so we know what to do, but it doesn’t mean something bad will happen.
Keep it age-appropriate: Give simple, honest answers without adding unnecessary details. For example, “We practice so our teachers know how to keep everyone safe” is usually enough for younger children.
Highlight the positives: Remind them that they did a great job listening to their teachers and following directions.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe and confident. If you have any questions or if your child needs extra reassurance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
With care,
BettyJo Davis

📬💙 A Special Delivery from the Heart 💙📬 Today, we proudly reinstalled a piece of Brooks history—our school mailbox. While it may seem simple, this mailbox holds deep meaning for our Bronco family. Originally built by a beloved custodian who is no longer with us, it was gifted to our current custodian and lovingly remodeled by my own dad. 💙 Even more special—my son, a proud Bronco alum, helped install it at our new campus today, just like it once stood at the old Brooks school. At Brooks, we believe in honoring our past, celebrating our people, and showing that once you’re a Bronco, you’re always a Bronco. 🐴💫 #BroncosForever #theBESt #FamilyRunsDeep #BrooksElementary

📣 Brooks Families—We Need You! 🐴

Are you passionate about helping Brooks Elementary be the very best it can be? We are looking for two parent representatives to serve on our Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council for the 2025–2026 school year!

✅ What is SBDM?
SBDM is a monthly team that meets for about 1 to 1.5 hours. Together, we review important school data, help make school improvement decisions, and ensure that family voices are heard as we shape the future of Brooks.

👪 Who can serve?
We need two parents or guardians who:

Have a student currently enrolled at Brooks Elementary

Do not work for Bullitt County Public Schools

Do not have an immediate family member working for Bullitt County Public Schools

💡 Your voice matters!
We truly depend on our families to help guide our decisions and make Brooks a place where every student thrives.

📅 Interested?
Please reach out to our PTO at bespto2023@gmail.com .

Let’s dream big and lead with purpose—together! 💙 #theBESt
