Mt. Washington Elementary School

Greetings MWES Families, My name is Ruth Esterle and I am honored to serve as the Interim Principal at Mt. Washington Elementary (MWES). The saying, “There’s no place like home”, comes to mind for me as I started with Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) as the counselor at MWES in 2007 and served in that role until 2012 when I accepted the position as principal at Maryville Elementary School. In addition to my role as counselor and principal in the district, I served as the BCPS Director of Pupil Personnel before retiring in 2022. During the 5 years that I served as counselor at MWES I was able to experience firsthand the positive school culture of the MWES community and look forward to working with the Mt. Washington families again. As Interim Principal, I welcome the opportunity to lead and provide support to staff and school families until the new principal is selected. At this time, I will be serving as the Interim Principal from now until Christmas break. I look forward to reconnecting with MWES families and meeting new families. Thank you PTA, parent volunteers, teacher volunteers and the crew running haunted buses on 2020 and 2031. It was fun seeing everyone in their costumes and enjoying the thrilling decorations. Happy Trick or Treat!!

Our students enjoyed a Dental Health visit to learn good habits about taking care of their teeth. The students who presented are in the Health Pathway at Bullitt East. They were well prepared and did a great presentation.
