We are kicking off our first spotlight of the year with our incredible PTO! They have started the year off strong by:
• Providing food, snacks, and goodies to fuel our staff
• Creating beautiful décor and balloon arches for Open House
• Sponsoring our staff team-building event
• Gifting school-wide staff t-shirts
• Preparing for our big fall fundraiser, APEX!

This first week back, our community partners went above and beyond to spoil us! 💛 ✨ PTO – Kicked off opening day with a delicious breakfast and treated us midweek with a much-needed caffeine station! ✨ Church of the Crossroads – Provided breakfast on our first day with students and surprised Mrs. Biglari with a brand-new shed to store all her treasures for performances! ✨ Mt. Washington Smoothies – Helped us power through Friday with energizing teas to get over that final hump of the week! We are so grateful for the love and support from our amazing community—it makes all the difference! 🐨💙

This family beautifully captured what so many feel: Mrs. Myers and Mrs. Hibbs aren’t just teachers, they’re safe places, steady cheerleaders, and guiding lights. “Because of you, our child walked into school with nervous little steps and walked out with confidence, joy, and a true love for learning.”

We are so thankful for the heart, care, and dedication you both bring to Old Mill. You’ve made a lasting impact—and it shows in every smile, every hug, and every brave little learner walking through our doors.

We are excited to officially reintroduce Mrs. Jessie Thompson as Old Mill Elementary’s new Assistant Principal! Mrs. Thompson joined our leadership team this spring, and many of you already know her from her time here as a dedicated Special Education teacher. She brings a deep love for our students, a passion for supporting staff, and a commitment to helping Old Mill continue to shine. We’re thrilled for her to step into this new role and can’t wait for you to see the amazing impact she will make!

We didn’t get many pictures because there was so much excitement at Open House! It was such a joy seeing our students, families, and staff together again. 💛 We’re counting down the days until the halls are full and the learning begins!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the open house—it was such a joy to connect with you and meet so many smiling faces! We’re excited for the year ahead—and even more excited to see your children back at school!

Here are a few important reminders:

First Day of School: Tuesday, our doors open promptly at 8:30 AM, and we'll be ready to greet your students with open arms!

Car Riders & Walkers: Please ensure your child has their car rider tag if applicable. If your child walks, remind them to follow safety routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding with transportation during this first week—it’s going to be a busy time as we settle in.

Lunchroom Visitors: We’re looking forward to hosting visitor lunches, but that will begin after Labor Day. This allows us a little time to nail down our lunchroom procedures and maintain a smooth routine.

This week’s family shout-out goes to the incredible Mrs. Bleemel, one of our amazing 4th-grade teachers! 🌟

“Mrs. Bleemel has been such a blessing to our family this year!” One parent shared how thankful they are for the way she makes learning fun and engaging while still challenging students to reach their highest potential. Her positivity, passion, and care have made a lasting impact, and it’s clear she pours her heart into helping her students grow, both academically and personally.

We’re so grateful to have Mrs. Bleemel as part of our Old Mill family! 💛

Today at Old Mill, we gathered for EdCamp, led by our amazing district and teacher leaders! Learning from one another is one of the best ways we grow, collaborate, and build each other up. We’re getting closer to an incredible year ahead!

This morning we had the joy of welcoming our newest teachers to Bullitt County at New Teacher Orientation! We’re so excited to have them join the Old Mill family and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make this year.
