Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Joiner have spent the past two days at the Kentucky Women in Educational Leadership Conference!
We are especially proud to celebrate Mrs. Thompson’s induction, as she now joins Mrs. Joiner as part of this distinguished group of leaders. 💙💛
We are honored to have such strong representation for Old Mill Elementary and Bullitt County!

🌟 Student Spotlight: Teaghan & Colton 🌟
This week’s Student Spotlight shines on Teaghan and Colton!
During drills, we had two students who were feeling nervous. Teaghan and Colton quickly noticed their friends’ worries and immediately stepped up. They volunteered to hold their hands throughout the drills to help them feel safe and supported.
By showing empathy and recognizing a need in our classroom community, they modeled what it means to be true Community Contributors. Not only did they care—they took action and created a solution to help others feel better.
We are so proud of Teaghan and Colton for their kindness, leadership, and heart for others! 💙

🌟 Staff Shout-Out of the Week: Ms. Carla 🌟
This week we’re celebrating Ms. Carla for her consistent commitment to safety, clear expectations, and putting students first every single day. She is a wonderful communicator with students and families—and many love hearing that she once drove their parents and even grandparents! She makes every child feel known and treated like family.
Even while navigating snow, ice, and tricky one-way roads, Ms. Carla keeps safety at the forefront, reminding students where to be and how to ride safely. She is truly a blessing to our Koala community and models “Students Matter Most” each and every day. 💙

📚🍋 Learning in Action! 🍋📚
Mrs. Troutman’s 3rd graders were hard at work diving deep into The Lemonade War!
Students worked hard to analyze characters’ actions and motivations, and used text evidence to support their thinking. From partner discussions and writing reflections to student created success criteria, these learners showed strong engagement, teamwork, and critical thinking every step of the way.
We love seeing students actively investigating stories and making their learning visible! 💛💙

Last weekend, our Old Mill Elementary Archery Team showed up and showed out! 🐨💛
Team Achievement:
• 4th place overall
• Improved our team score by an incredible 170 points
Individual Highlight:
• Brynlee H. placed 1st for Elementary Girls with an outstanding score of 265!
With this performance, our team officially qualified for STATE in March!
They are STATE BOUND, and we couldn’t be more proud of their focus, growth, and determination.

We hope everyone has a wonderful three-day weekend!

At OMES, we believe a strong school culture starts with supporting one another. When our staff feels valued, that joy and positivity flow right into our classrooms for our students to see and feel.
Thank you to our amazing Social Committee for taking the time to spread kindness and brighten our day. We are so grateful to be part of a school family that celebrates and uplifts one another! 💌✨

🍓🥦 Hey OMES Families — Meet BEET! 🥦🍓
Beet is all about fresh fruits, veggies, and COLORFUL plates! 🌈 The more color you add to your meals, the more energy and nutrients you give your body to move, play, and feel your best. So let’s power up our plates the Beet way! 💪
🏆 Fundraising Update!
Mrs. Dixon’s 4th grade class is currently in the LEAD with the most money raised! 👏🔥
But watch out… Mrs. Bader’s Kindergarten class is only $1.06 away from snagging that 1st place spot! 😱🎉 Talk about a close race!
⏰ There’s still time to join the fun!
We have 10 days left to team up with Beet, learn heart-healthy habits, and help raise lifesaving funds for the American Heart Association. ❤️

Lukas has been an outstanding buddy at Young Athletes and truly embraces his role. He loves participating in activities with his buddy and always makes sure everyone feels included.
His kindness, enthusiasm, and leadership shine bright so much so that his peers have chosen him as a daily leader for three weeks in a row! 👏
Lukas models what it means to be an effective communicator and a productive collaborator. We are so lucky to have him in our program! Way to go, Lukas! 🌟

Our 3rd graders have been working SO hard on fractions! 🧠➗ This past week, they took on quite the challenge, determining the value of fractions and analyzing mathematical statements created for our 4th graders.
We are so proud of their perseverance, critical thinking, and willingness to stretch their learning. Keep shining, Koalas! 💛

💙 Community Shout-Out: Mrs. Pam, Our Volunteer Coordinator 💙
We want to send a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Pam, whose heart for our schools and community continues to shine in the most beautiful ways. What began in February of 2021 with just one school has grown into something truly incredible. This year alone, her efforts reached CES, OMES, MWES, PGES, and Nichols — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community comes together.
Through her tireless outreach and coordination, over 1,600 hearts have been lovingly made, with volunteers donating countless hours of their time and others generously donating the string to make it all happen. Because of this incredible teamwork, every student and staff member at each school will receive a heart, ensuring that no one is left out and everyone feels seen, valued, and connected.
Our community has been AMAZING, and this is just the beginning. We are so excited to continue building from here and continuing to spread love across our schools.
Thank you, Mrs. Pam, for leading with heart and reminding us that when we come together, we can create something truly special. 💙💙

Next week our school will be celebrating Kindness Week with daily activities, school spirit dress days, and opportunities for students to practice kindness in meaningful ways. Next week is all about compassion, inclusion, and the power of small acts making a big difference.
We are also excited to host a Little Library Book Drive as our community service project. Families are invited to participate by donating one book to help spread the joy of reading. Our little library is open for any family to borrow and trade out books!
Be sure to check out the flyers for daily themes, dress days, and more information. Let’s work together to help kindness grow throughout our school community!
