💦☀️ What a day for our 5th graders!
As part of their end-of-year celebrations, our 5th grade students enjoyed Water Day! A huge thank you to our 5th grade team, volunteers, and families who helped make this special day possible.

Yesterday afternoon, our 5th graders took their final walk through the halls of Old Mill Elementary. 💙💛
As they made their way through the building one last time, they were surrounded by the teachers, staff, and students who have cheered them on throughout their journey. While it’s hard to say goodbye, we couldn’t be more proud of the young leaders they have become.
Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the impact you’ve made on our school. Once a Koala, always a Koala. 🐨

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
As we enjoy time with family and friends, may we pause to reflect on their sacrifice and the freedoms they helped protect.
❤️🤍💙

Yearbook Signing Day is so much more than signatures on a page. It’s a chance for students to reconnect with former teachers, visit classmates from years past, share memories, and celebrate the relationships that make our school community so special.
From kindergarten to 5th grade, our hallways were filled with smiles, laughter, and reminders of just how connected our Koala family truly is. We love opportunities that bring our entire school community together, and today was one of those days. 🐨

We hope everyone has a wonderful three day weekend!

So proud of our Old Mill Elementary staff for presenting today at the BCPS 3rd Annual Educator Showcase! 💙💛 Our team shared powerful examples of authentic learning, student engagement, and meaningful work happening inside our classrooms every day.
✨ “Journey to the Showcase: Developing our Graduate Profile”
Presented by Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Bleemel, Mrs. Coleman, Ms. Marinesi, and Ms. Bader
This session highlighted how Old Mill students are developing and showcasing the Bullitt County Graduate Profile competencies through authentic learning experiences, reflection, and student-led showcases. Staff shared the journey of helping students become effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, productive collaborators, and self-directed learners through meaningful, real-world learning opportunities.
✨ “Making Learning Matter”
Presented by Mrs. Troutman
Mrs. Troutman shared how HQIRs, instructional tools, and community partnerships can be used to bring authentic learning to life by making classroom experiences relevant and engaging for students. Her session focused on helping students connect learning to the real world through purposeful tasks, deeper thinking, meaningful application, and authentic partnerships that extend learning beyond the classroom walls.
✨ “Authentic Learning Through Reformers”
Presented by Mrs. Grady
Mrs. Grady showcased how students moved beyond simply learning about historical reformers to becoming reformers themselves. Students explored connections between historical changemakers, modern issues, and real student concerns while creating authentic projects and persuasive pitches focused on improving their school and community. Her work emphasized critical thinking, collaboration, civic engagement, and helping students see how lessons from the past still connect to their lives today.
We are so proud of the passion, innovation, and leadership our staff continues to demonstrate. Thank you for representing Old Mill so well and for continually creating experiences where learning truly matters for kids!

Tomorrow state testing begins for 3rd grade! 💪

We hope everyone has a great weekend!
