Important reminders for our cougar cub families.

Happy New Year to our Roby community! Just a reminder that Tuesday, January 2nd is a Bullitt Day so students get one more day of break. We look forward to seeing all of our Cougar Cubs when school returns on Wednesday, January 3rd.

Roby Caregivers, Shepherdsville Police & Fire Department and a BCPS bus will be out delivering cookies tomorrow afternoon (December 21st) to about 20 families at 1pm. The Santa fire truck will join us for the 2:30 and 3:30 stops. Students can meet us at Boardwalk Apartments at 2:30pm or the Central Library at 3:30pm. In the event of inclement weather we will postpone for December 28th!

The Roby elf on was the roof today during arrival.

PBLWorks asked Kentucky teachers to pilot some of their new units. Nancye Taylor, Roby’s 3rd grade science teacher, signed up to teach the Project Based Learning Water Foul unit that challenged learners to research and innovate ways to clean rivers using forces.
Throughout the PBL, students engaged as “Productive Collaborators” (one competency of Bullitt County’s Graduate Profile). They worked in teams to create models of devices that could clean river debris using magnetic forces. Students became researchers and innovators as they investigated and brainstormed ways to solve the problem of water pollution.
Gina Weber, our district PBL Coach, assisted all three classes throughout the learning experience. Greg Taylor, a JCPS teacher, attended each showcase as our science expert to ask students questions to explain how their devices would help clean rivers. Our students were excited to share their learning and thankful for all who came to listen to their ideas and celebrate their learning process.

Our chess team took 3rd in K-3 and 2nd in K-5 during their tournament on Saturday. Several students also place individually. The entire team showed CARE and respect to the others schools at the tournament.

Third Grade became detectives recently with the help of our school resource officer. Students solved the mystery of the missing parrot and learned about the responsibility of being a police officer.

Roby Beta and FRC are hosting The Giving Tree project this year. We are asking students to bring in specific items based on their grade levels as well as non perishable food items. The grade level who donates the most items will earn a hot cocoa party. All items are due TOMORROW, Dec. 13th.

We are pleased to announce our classified caregiver of the year. Our front office, as well as the school would not operate as smoothly without her hard work and dedication. Congratulations Mrs. Katie Ashbaugh!
