Good morning!! We are a CEP eligible school which means all kids eat free both lunch and breakfast!! All families still need to fill out the Household income form to maintain accuracy for funding. We only have 75 families left to fill out the form. Huge shoutout to all the families who have filled it out already!
Archery season is almost here!! Coach Stewart is hosting the first open gyms for archery on September 13 and 20 from 6-7:30pm. Any questions about archery, his email address is listed on the info below!

Mrs. Naes' student leadership enrichment class spread some joy yesterday!! All teachers and staff members received flowers and cards. It was a wonderful surprise and a good opportunity for our students to serve others.
Students are checking out books and reading on the new furniture in the library! We had some donations from the community that provide comfy reading areas to encourage our learners to enjoy a good book. One of our goals is to promote a culture of reading at ZMS this year because readers are leaders! One student has been enjoying her book so much that she is choosing to read while completing her walk minutes in PE class. 🥰📚📚
In Mr. Greenwell's College/Career Lab classes, students got their first hands on experiences at their "module" of learning! Featuring students learning to take blood pressure, created culinary energy bites, engineering and more! If you have an 8th grader ask them about their week!

Introducing new weekly Staff Shoutouts! We want to recognize staffulty in making ZMS a place of of character, community and academics! These shoutouts are nominated by other staff members. Today we appreciate Mr. Chris Miracle, ECE Teacher and FCA leader.
Boys' basketball open gyms will begin on Sept. 3rd from 5-7. Must have a sports physical to attend.
Snapshots of Student Learning! Featured are students from Mrs. Badgley's social studies classes. They had artifacts of "evidence" and tried to use clues to match them to various teachers in the building and explain their reasoning. They also had recess with their class pet, a turtle named Leif Erickson!
Also included is Mrs. Thompson's Arts & Humanities classes. Students were performing fairy tale retelling plays and will eventually write their own plays!

Our 8th graders had the most "Terrific Timberwolves" tickets last week and got to wear pajamas today to school! These tickets are a reward for when we see students exhibiting PACK values: Pride, Accountability, Courage, Kindness. Way to go 8th grade!
Another new face around the building is the dynamic Mr. Bennett! He's jumped right in the 7th grade team with wonderful energy! #bepartofthepack
Two more recent folks were added to our PACK! Some of you may already have heard Mrs Karen Gilbert's voice when you call the front office phone. They are both welcome additions to our school.
The week of September 9-13, 2024 will be BCPS Goes Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness across our schools! Each school will be doing a donation drive during the week.
ZMS is collecting CRAFT SUPPLIES. If you would like to donate to this cause, send in donations with your student or drop off to our office during school hours!
