BCPS Receives $41K+ from the WHAS Crusade for Children

Bullitt County Public Schools has received its annual notification from the WHAS Crusade for Children and is grateful to announce that BCPS has been awarded $41,831! This is significantly more than the last 2 years! In this year's grant application, BCPS prioritized items to help support the district’s students with visual impairments, as well as to purchase speech/language equipment and assistive technology.

In the award notification email, the Crusade for Children included the following note: “We are grateful for an endowed gift in memory of Barbara Tevis Meyers that partially supports the speech-related components of this grant.”

Thanks to the generosity of the WHAS Crusade for Children and this gift contributed in memory of Ms. Meyers, BCPS will be able to purchase (among other things) 17 audiometers for our Speech and Language Pathologists, a MATT Connect magnifier, iPads, and more Livox devices and software.

“We are grateful for this donation from the WHAS Crusade for Children. This generous gift will provide our district with specific resources that will go a long way in addressing the needs of some of our most deserving students.” said Dr. Brandy Howard, BCPS Chief Academic Officer.

BCPS Director of Special Education, Mr. Troy Kolb stated, “The WHAS Crusade for Children Grant has been a blessing to Bullitt County Public Schools for many years. Through the generosity of the Crusade we are able to purchase therapeutic and instructional materials we may not otherwise have been able to provide. They are a tremendous partner for our district as we strive to meet the increasing physical, academic, and mental health needs of our students with disabilities.”
