Cancellation Notice

November 21, 2022

BCPS Family,

For the last several weeks as we have seen a rise in the flu and other illnesses throughout the community, we have kept a close eye on our student and staff attendance. We were hopeful that we could safely get to the Thanksgiving Holiday without disruption in the district. However, today our district-wide attendance dropped to 88% and we have a handful of schools in the 70s. Additionally today we had 192 staff members out, with only 53% of these absences being filled with substitutes. We anticipate tomorrow could be worse.

For the reasons mentioned above, Bullitt County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 22nd. We will use Tuesday and Wednesday to clean and sanitize our buildings and classrooms. Tomorrow will NOT be an NTI day. It will be a “traditional closure” and the make-up day will be May 25th.  I encourage all students and staff to take this time to rest, recuperate, and regain strength to finish the fall semester strong upon returning from Thanksgiving Break.

I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. I appreciate your continued support of Bullitt County Public Schools. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the district office at 502-869-8000.

Respectfully,

Dr. Jesse Bacon

Superintendent
