Not only is it National School Counseling week, but it's also Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) Week! We have some amazing FRYSCs in BCPS, and Nichols has one of the best, Mekayla Belcher! (No, we're not biased, we promise!)
FRYSC roles in schools, communities, and education are vital to the bigger picture of serving our students and families all over. Thank you for all you do!

It's National School Counseling Week! We'd like to focus on the unique contribution of school counselors within our buildings and how our students are different as a result of what counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve success. Nichols would not be the same without our own school counselor, Mrs. Clark!

Even with a snow day, we've gotten a lot of awesome instruction time in this week!

Due to winter weather and hazardous road conditions, BCPS was closed on January 31st, 2023. This was a traditional snow day with the makeup day scheduled for May 26th.

You never know what kind of weather will show up this time of year! In an effort to be prepared for any NTI days we may run across this winter, here is 2022/23's NTI expectations and information.
Based on the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, online work recommendations for Elementary students are 1-2 hours daily.
We do encourage at least one hour a day for outside recreational time (if it is safe!)
NTI Participation is tracked through at least ONE of the following:
Email to and from student
Phone Call (parent, student, etc.)
Work submitted or logged in through SeeSaw, Google Classroom, Edgenuity, email, etc.
Assignment submitted through learning platform or email
Attendance at virtual office hours.
Attendance at class or small group virtual meeting
FOR NTI DAYS TO COUNT, WE MUST HEAR FROM YOU OR YOUR STUDENT!
Thank you!

We want to personally thank all the families who have already participated in our SchoolStore fundraiser! So far, over $800 has been raised!
If your family has not participated, there's still time!
This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached. Our SchoolStore website is also live for a whole year! This means that Nichols can earn money all year long from the Family Bookstore, the national online merchants and the donated Caring For Classrooms gift cards.
If you would still like to participate, please go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000180544
Thank you for your support!

We would like to wish our Archery Team good luck on their tournament at North Bullitt High School! If you would like to come out and support our team, the tournament is at 11am tomorrow!
