Today we celebrate the heart of our school our incredible administrative assistants! 💙
From the moment you walk through our doors, they are the friendly faces that greet you, the problem-solvers behind the scenes, and the glue that keeps everything running smoothly. Whether it’s answering countless calls, helping students and staff, or handling a million little details each day, they do it all with patience, kindness, and a smile.
A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Pam, Ms. Becky, Ms. Katie, Ms. Renee, and Ms. Shawn for everything you do for our school community. We are so grateful for you and all the ways you support our students, staff, and families each and every day!
Be sure to show them some extra love today—they truly deserve it! 💐✨

Old Mill Elementary is proud to be a Purple Star School 💜 This designation recognizes our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. At OMES, that means creating a welcoming environment, understanding the unique challenges military families may face, and ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and connected, no matter where their journey takes them. Next week, we are excited to celebrate the Month of the Military Child with a Spirit Week designed by our very own military-connected students, alongside our amazing sponsors, Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Watson. Their voices helped shape each day, making this celebration even more meaningful. We invite our entire school community to join us in honoring these incredible students by participating in the dress-up days shown below! 💜 Our military kids are resilient, brave, and strong and we are so proud to celebrate them.

Our students showed up and gave it their all at last night’s District STEM Challenge and we are so proud to share that our intermediate team brought home 1st place! 🏆
Students put their problem-solving skills to the ultimate test as they designed and built structures capable of withstanding “earthquake conditions.” It was amazing to watch them think critically, collaborate, and apply their STEM knowledge to real-world challenges.
We are so proud of their hard work, creativity, and perseverance. Way to represent, OMES! 💙💛

We are excited to share that Mrs. Tory Hibbs, a valued member of our Kindergarten team, will be joining our 5th-grade team for the upcoming school year!
Mrs. Hibbs has made a meaningful impact in Kindergarten through her care for students, strong relationships, and engaging learning experiences. We are confident she will bring that same passion and dedication to our 5th-grade students as they prepare for their next steps.
At Old Mill, we are committed to placing great educators where they can continue to grow and make the greatest impact for students, and we are excited for this next chapter for Mrs. Hibbs.
Please join us in celebrating her in this new role!

Our first graders were hard at work today diving into comparing two digit numbers! Using manipulatives, they explored multiple ways to show what they know and made their thinking visible in powerful ways.
Even more impressive, they didn’t just use the symbols, they dug into the meaning behind them to truly understand how to read and interpret comparisons.
We are so proud of these Mastery Learners and the way they are building deep, meaningful understanding every day!

Yesterday, we started our day by celebrating our monthly Beanstack winners at each grade level and announcing Goldie Goose’s new home for Gold Star attendance...Ms. Bader and Mrs. Denise’s class!
At Old Mill, Koalas Celebrate Successes, and we truly mean it. Taking time to recognize our students’ effort, growth, and achievements, both big and small, is an important part of who we are. We are so proud of our students and the hard work they show each day.

Such an awesome Bullitt Day at Old Mill! 💙💛
We kicked things off with treats from our admin team, then Mrs. Boston and our student leaders brought the energy by leading staff through the Minds in Motion simulation. Our students truly stepped into the role of effective communicators, confidently presenting to staff and gathering feedback that will help guide our schoolwide implementation moving forward.
Our KCM math crew also shared some incredible strategies from last month’s training, bringing great ideas back to our classrooms.
We wrapped up by diving into iReady data, identifying next steps, and getting laser focused for state assessments right around the corner.
So proud of our students and staff and the meaningful work happening every day. Let’s finish strong! 💪✨

Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate one of the very best—Mrs. Thompson for Assistant Principal Week (a little early before Spring Break, but just as special)! 💙
Mrs. Thompson truly embodies what it means to put students first. Her leadership, kindness, and unwavering support make a difference in the lives of both students and staff every single day. Whether she’s helping solve problems, cheering on successes, or simply being a steady and positive presence, she goes above and beyond in all she does.
We are so grateful for all the heart she pours into our school. Thank you, Mrs. Thompson, for everything you do to make our school a better place!

Our next Book Nook recommendation is No-Drama Discipline! 💙
This powerful read reminds us that discipline is about teaching and helps us support our children in building confidence, self-regulation, and strong decision-making skills.

Happy School Librarian Day, Mrs. Mason! 📚
From helping students discover their favorite books to creating a welcoming space for all, your impact is felt every single day at Old Mill. We are so grateful for you!

Over 856 adults showed up for our Graduate Profile Student Showcases last week—and we are just so grateful. 💙💛
Our students stepped into leadership, shared their growth, and truly owned their learning… and our families showed up in the best way.
If you have a powerful takeaway or a moment that stood out to you, we would love to hear it—your words mean so much to our students and staff.
We couldn’t do this work without your support, encouragement, and partnership. Thank you for believing in what we’re building at Old Mill.

Topgolf helped us launch our Forces & Motion science unit in the best way! ⛳️
Students are already making connections across content—blending science with geometry as they explore shapes, perimeter, and what it takes to design their very own mini golf holes. The level of thinking and creativity has been so fun to watch!
Stay tuned to see how we bring collaboration with our ATC into this work—connecting ideas, feedback, and real-world thinking as projects come to life. 💙

Leadership surprised our staff today with a dip bar to kick off spring break!
A small way to say thank you for all they pour into our students each day.

Today in 1st grade, students practiced adding and subtracting by 10 through an egg hunt and partner work! Hands-on learning, great conversations, and lots of teamwork filled Mrs. Jump’s classroom.
Productive collaborators in action; we love seeing it come to life at Old Mill! 💙

Student Appreciation Day 💙💛
Days like today remind me just how special our students are! Thank you to our PTO for loving on every single one of them with donuts and prize giveaways. It was a day full of smiles, excitement, and feeling celebrated!
